What Makes Us Different

Why Taza's Kebabs Stand Out in Northern Virginia

Northern Virginia has dozens of places claiming to serve great kebab. Here is what Taza does differently.

Traditional Vertical Spit

Our kebab meat is stacked and roasted on a vertical spit -- the same method used in the Levant for centuries. The exterior caramelizes under intense heat while the interior stays tender and juicy. No flat grill shortcuts.

Carved to Order

The chicken and beef are halal and roasted on the vertical spit. Every shawarma order is carved straight off the vertical spit, the classic Levantine way.

100% Halal

All chicken and beef at Taza is halal. For the large Muslim community across Northern Virginia, that means eating here requires zero guesswork. Halal is not an afterthought -- it is our standard.

Made to Order

We receive fresh meat deliveries multiple times per week. Taza is in Bailey's Crossroads, at 5820 Seminary Rd Ste O. You taste the difference in every bite.

Shaved to Order

We do not pre-slice and let the meat sit in a warming tray. Every kebab order is shaved directly from the spit the moment you place it. Hot, crispy edges. Tender, steaming interior.

14 Free Toppings, Your Way

After we carve your kebab, you pick your toppings. Pickled turnips, tahini, garlic sauce, hot sauce, fresh vegetables, olives, hummus -- 14 toppings, no extra charge. Total control over every meal.

The Kebab Menu

Kebab-Style Items at Taza

Six ways to enjoy our vertical-spit kebab. Pita, shrak wrap, or bowl -- every version features the same spit-roasted, shaved-to-order meat that Northern Virginia cannot stop ordering.

Chicken Shawarma Pita

Classic

The gold standard. You can watch the crew carve your shawarma off the vertical spit as you order. Shaved fresh into a warm pita with garlic sauce, pickled turnips, and vegetables.

Beef Shawarma Pita

Spit-Carved

beef layered with fat and spices on the spit, roasted low and slow until deeply caramelized. Shaved thin and served in pita with tahini, pickled vegetables, and fresh greens. Rich, beefy, and deeply satisfying.

Chicken Shawarma Shrak

Classic

Same chicken kebab, wrapped in shrak -- a paper-thin Lebanese flatbread baked on a dome. The shrak adds a delicate chew that pairs perfectly with the crispy-edged chicken. Bigger than the pita version.

Beef Shawarma Shrak

Spit-Carved

Our beef kebab rolled in shrak bread with tahini, garlic sauce, pickled turnips, and sumac. The generous portions make this the choice for serious appetites. One wrap is a full meal.

Chicken Shawarma Bowl

Healthy Choice

All the flavor of our vertical-spit chicken served over basmati rice, lettuce, or hummus. Topped with Arabic salad, garlic sauce, and herbs. High protein, no bread, fully customizable from our toppings selection.

Beef Shawarma Bowl

Protein Packed

Tender beef kebab slices over your choice of base. Garnished with Arabic salad, pickles, tahini, and sumac. A clean, high-protein meal that delivers bold flavor without the wrap.

Behind the Scenes

The Art of the Spit: How Taza Makes Kebab

The vertical spit is the backbone of every kebab at Taza. This is not a shortcut method -- it is a craft that requires fresh meat, precise seasoning, patience, and constant attention. Here is exactly how we do it, from raw ingredient to your plate.

01

The Marinade

Shawarma at Taza is carved off the vertical spit to order, so each plate gets fresh slices from the cone.

02

Stacking the Spit

The marinated meat is layered onto a vertical spit by hand, alternating lean cuts with thin layers of fat. This fat renders as the spit rotates, basting the meat continuously from the inside out. The result is a cone of meat that is crispy on the surface and impossibly juicy underneath.

03

Slow Roasting

The loaded spit rotates in front of a high-heat vertical broiler for several hours. The exterior caramelizes into a deep golden crust while the interior cooks gently and evenly. Our kitchen team monitors the temperature and rotation speed throughout the day.

04

Shaved to Order

When you place your order, our cook takes a long, razor-sharp knife and shaves thin ribbons directly from the rotating spit. These shavings include the crispy outer crust and the tender interior -- the perfect texture combination in every serving. The meat goes straight from spit to plate.
